Save the date: Our grants open in NovemberMark your calendars: California's arts grant season is on its way. The California Arts Council is prioritizing this year's grant funding to nurture and heal our communities through the arts; to keep the doors of our arts and cultural institutions open; to protect jobs in the creative field; and to preserve our cultural heritage, our stories, and our culture bearers. These grants feature NEW funding, including general operating support for organizations and fellowships to support the creative practice of individual artists, as well as continued support for project-based activities. Get a sneak preview of our 2021 program offerings here - and stay tuned for more details prior to our season launch, coming this November.
Workshop: Why Race? A racial equity learning journeyTo aid organizations in developing their race equity framework and development of their racial equity statement application requirement, the CAC is hosting a training workshop on Thursday, October 29, that will offer additional context about our agency's own racial equity learning journey. In this 90-minute workshop, facilitated by our new Race and Equity Manager, Katherin Canton, we invite our creative communities across the state to share, listen, reflect, and iterate together on racial equity commitments. Details and registration information can be found here.
Arts in Corrections: Training Organizations RFPThe California Arts Council is currently accepting proposals from organizations interested in providing training to current Arts in Corrections Coordinating Organizations in the areas of healing-centered best practices, race and equity, restorative and transformative justice, and strategic partnerships.
