CAC Expands Rehabilitative Arts Programs in State Prisons
The California Arts Council awarded new contracts to 12 different arts organizations offering rehabilitative arts services in California state prisons. Arts programming now reaches all 35 state adult correctional institutions - a significant increase from the 20 institutions served in the previous fiscal year. Funded by the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the Arts in Corrections program improves the safety and environment of state prisons, and combats recidivism. MORE >>
Reflections on the Americans for the Arts Convention
The California Arts Council paid a visit to the Bay Area last month for the annual Americans for the Arts Convention, along with 1,200 other arts and culture professionals. Hosted locally by the San Francisco Arts Commission, the convention provided the opportunity for our programs staff to network with their peers, connect with grantees and learn more about the issues that impact our work to support creativity and culture across the state.
